American Top Team’s Warm Welcome

BY: IAN MATUSZAK

Being a Jiu Jitsu athlete, there is an automatic interest in other training camps and facilities. One often wonders about their structure and if it differs from their own. I visited American Top Team’s Main HQ while on vacation.

Coming from Long Island, New York Longo and Weidman MMA, I was very excited to meet and spend some time with American Top Team’s fighters and staff many of whom are seen in the UFC Octagon on a somewhat regular basis.

I arrived early to get settled in, only to see and meet Master Ricardo Liborio moments later. He put his arm around me and walked with me to the mats. Master Liborio took the time to introduce me to everyone he possibly could. He didn’t have to, he chose to do so. I could tell he treats all with the same respect and kindness he showed me. He is warm and very down to earth. After some private instruction with my partner Charlie, a two stripe brown belt, I was introduced to the class, who were very happy to meet me.

This level of openness does not happen very often, but at American Top Team it is regular. They treated me like I was one of them, despite me being physically disabled with Cerebral Palsy, standing in a walker. If you want great instruction, a warm reception that makes a walk in visitor like myself feel like family, American Top Team is the place.

Ian, the pleasure is all ours!
