UFC 189 will stand out as one of the greatest fight cards ever, with Champion Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald putting on one of the best MMA fights seen in recent years.

In the end of this epic battle, it was Champion Robbie “Ruthless” Lawler who stood tall and prevailed. At  the start of the 5th round, “Ruthless” yelled at the record setting crowd, letting everyone in attendance know he was ready to fight.

As both guys squared off battered and bloody, the Champ dropped Rory with a hard left. As Rory clutched at his already broken nose and tried to cover, Lawler went for the finish, which came shortly after at the 1:00 mark of the 5th and final round.

This was truly a fight for the ages, that saw Robbie battle back with a vengeance to retain his Welterweight Title. Kudos to both fighters, for putting on a tremendous fight that showed heart, guts and determination from both men.  Big Congrats to Robbie and the coaches who helped him throughout this camp. Great job men!!

Also, a shout out to Brad Pickett. Even though Brad fell short in his bout against Thomas Almeida, he showed once again why he’s a fan favorite. Brad came out on fire in the first round and looked sharp prior to Thomas Almeida landing a fight ending knee in the 2nd.  Brad’s another fighter who showed his warrior spirit and heart on this epic fight night. Brad will now take some time off and reflect before deciding what’s next. Whatever he decides it’s been a great one….

Congrats to all the fighters on this card as it was one of the best MMA cards ever.
